    Default Homemade boost leak test.

Fed up having the revs slightly raised and now max boost not coming in.

So, made above. Removed both filters and mafs, blocked front turbo input and fitted bung with air compressor fitting and pressurized to 1bar.

Straight away I could hear escaping air from the intercooler, so a hole in the intercooler, where the overheat fan wiring has rubbed.
Then found another leak where the pipe from the cam cover connects to the rear turbo intake, boost now back to normal.
Can someone explain to me please, how a leak on the low pressure side (intake) of the turbo can cause low boost.

    Default Homemade boost leak test.

Was the leak on the low pressure side before or after the MAF sensor?

Nice little bit of backyard engineering there though by the sound of it.

I suspect ( but might be wrong) that the reason behind it then is it's effectively sucking in unmetered air which of course the car cannot account for.

As for uploading pics it is a known issue Spammy is working on. If you have Tapatalk on your phone you can upload okay from that.
