    Default 3SGTE standard bov (Celica)

My Celica (ST185) has a vent to atmosphere bov currently and I would like to have it recirc, ideally with a standard item. Thing is, I don't know what the standard one looks like and can't seem to find one online to know what I'm looking for!

Can anyone tell me if the earlier 3S engines had a different one to the later model? My only experience of 3S bovs is on the MR2 and they are different....

Alternative I guess is to route the HKS back into the inlet? But then it won't look standard.

Without searching (which I'm too lazy too do) I can't show you a pic of what it looks like.
However - regards plumbing back in....
I'd say you could likely be better off (if the HKS one is genuine) as the spring rate is slightly higher (normally) and with the unit being newer will also likely have less wear on the valve plate. As such - will likely seal better.

Is the look important to you?
You know if it's a sound issue (I'm assuming you want quieter if so), you can get different filaments to change the sound/volume.

I don't like where the HKS is fitted. It isn't secured very well and has no where else to be fitted. I'll be using when I eventually go FMIC....

    Ok
So plan B - leave it as is, source/fit new FMIC with flange in new/desired position.... Move BOV and blank off old location/remove old pipe work and replace with new without flange (not knowing you're setup).

    Which reminds me...

That would explain why I can't find one for sale!
Si, would you recommend I do away with the HKS whilst running standard boost? IAS it messing up fueling?

Well the car does benefit from having a BOV of some description. Only the fact that Toyota used ceramic components for their turbos is why they thought they could get away without fitting it. HKS do make an insert for the SSQV that converts it to recirc. The insert replaces the three spoked bit in the venting side.

Was gonna say, ST185 doesn't have one! And not meaning to hi-jack, but can you get HKS BOVs rebuilt or repaired? I've got one I'm not using because it doesn't return properly and is essentially a huge boost leak.

I've probably got the stock ST205 recirc valve laying around somewhere, you're welcome to it.

Disco - Yes you can rebuild SSQVs to a point. I have a MK1 SSQV which has cracked castings, its just a paperweight now. The SSQV diaphragm has probably gone, just split the back off it using the small allen headed bolts and replace it.
