Default First trackday at Llandow - tips / advice wanted!

So as the title suggests I'll be taking the Jazz to a trackday at Llandow circuit on 7th April

This'll be my first time on the track, so any driving/general tips etc would be appreciated! Especially if anyone's been around Llandow themselves!

On a more specific note, I was wondering what tyre pressures I should be running on track? Has anyone with a Civic or a similar hatch found good pressures to run at? The standard setup for the Jazz is 32psi front and 30 back (normal road tyres).

    Thanks guys

I would go for maximum rated pressures for the tyre. That way you will get a solid side wall.

Good luck, will you be taking any recording equipment?

Just run standard pressures for now, take it easy don't push yourself to hard just watch others and follow a nice smooth racing line, watch out for people behind you, people will do silly things to get past. Enjoy

Make sure you check all your levels before you go too.

Take it easy first few laps and build up speed gradually, don't try to be a hero first lap and bin it!

    Have fun.

Be steady, dont start to drive quickly until you can guess the what the next corner is before you get to it, then when you start to pick up pace be as smooth with your driving as possible, the smoother you are the quicker you will go.

If its open pit lane I have always found doing 15 mins on 15 mins off, this way you dont get too excited and start to make mistakes. Also remember as the car is not fully setup for track use, your brakes, oils, fluids will be running a lot hotter than normal so before you come in have a cool down lap (using as little braking as possible) to give the car a chance to cool down and recover. Alot of people dont do this and come in after a hot lap then wonder why their brakes are warped when they go back out.

Most important of all, if you find yourself at ease and thinking "its ok I will just do another couple of laps" then come in, these are the laps where you will find that you spin off and bin it, and then you will always regret it.

If it is open pit lane, keep an eye on your mirrors for faster cars catching you. As others have said, start slowly and build your speed up gradually. It may be worth getting a ride with someone who knows the circuit. Enjoy the day...

Yeah I will mate, if they allow it I'll record from an interior mounted camera, plus my gf will be around to take videos from the outside. Hopefully I'll have enough footage to put a youtube vid together, if so I'll be sure to post it here
