    nope - on drag strip we were playing with 20 psi for maximum tyre area being on the road. for track its about keep the tyre as rigid as possible as described by Rich. On the track day peeps were mentioning 40psi on normally pressured 32 psi tyres. Obvious monitoring comes into account - but then this should be expected for heat etc

    Yeah high PSI on a drag car would just create more wheel spin off the line which is no good

    hence why you found putting higher PSI in made it more twitchy, because you have less tyre touching the road ;D


    Also remember when going mental on a track your tyres generally get a lot hotter than on the road and will turn to jelly without much persuasion, higher PSI helps keep the tyre rigid as Dave says instead of flapping about like Paris Hiltons you-know-what
