    Default Ring 8-10 Sept 2009

I have never been to the Nurburgring before. Again this year all the trips planned are when I am away so me and Terry (GT3) have decided to on the following:-

To avoid the stupendous queues and track closures that come part and parcel of a busy public weekend, we are going to go mid-week - out on Tuesday 8th and back on Thursday 10th. The track agenda for those dates are: -

    Tuesday, 08.09.09 17:15 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten, 08.09.2009
    (Nordschleife)
    19:30 until 21:00 h Track Walk, 08.09.2009
    (Nordschleife)
    Wednesday, 09.09.09 08:00 until 19:30 h Touristenfahrten, 09.09.2009
    (Nordschleife)

I will look into getting good, cheap accomodation and will book us into the Pistenklause for some sizzling Argentinian steaks

I have not done any confirmed prices yet as it is still along time away, dont know which ferry operaters will still be around etc

Just thought I would stick it up for now to give people plenty of notice, will look into finer details nearer the time

Budget around a grand Dave. Probably be less for only 3 days, but you're looking at a 900 miles round trip, ~20 per lap, hotel, food, ferry...

On the plus side, it looks like the pound is going to get a _little_ bit stronger against the euro over the coming months.

Yeh I know the budget Chris - I get a strong 200-250 miles on commuting milage so should be looking at 300 miles on a longer drive (should find out next friday what the old girl can do on cruise control). So theres 200 in fuel min there and back - extra insurance, tyres, breakdown recovery with greenflag and a boot of tools, oils and a few belts etc.

Buy a 15 lap ticket to bring the price of laps down.

Could be well up for this. I've wanted to drive the ring for a long time so what better opportunity. Picking up a trailer soon so will be able tow the motor over......... If the car survives the up coming track days I'll be there.

i went last year and its worth every penny,
your best bet is to get the ferry dover to dunkirk, its a bit cheaper usually and gives you a better route,
the fuel is usually the killer although they say the pound/euro thing should be better by then and super unleaded is a bit cheaper over there.

i was there for 5 days on and of that the ring and the sourrounding roads (which can be just as fun!) in my type r that was running around the 260 bhp mark and i reckon i did around 300 in fuel and i did 12 laps

    hope this helps

Dont tease me!...... 2 weeks and 2 days and I'll be tucking in to one with a Warsteiner to hand!!

........... or I'll be sat on the side of a Belgian motorway, like last time luckily nothing serious and found a friendly teg owner at the ring who lent me his rotor arm as his had dropped its clutch
