HJC monthly meet - Sunday 15th April - Racing in Odiham!
Well, the time has come to announce HJC's monthly meet for April. Please note; the date has changed from the usual 2nd Sunday of the month to the 3rd (Sunday 15th). This it to avoid interference with peoples plans for Easter.
As most of our meets are usually based in Southern Hampshire, April's will be in North Hampshire. We know it is a trek for some of you, but members from North Hants usually make the effort to attend Southern meets, so we would appreciate your efforts - you could even incorporate a nice convoy on the way up.
We have decided to do something different this month:
April's meet involves racing!
Not powered vehicles, but something totally different, fun and challenging - row boat racing on the Basingstoke canal!!
The plan is to meet at the Waterwitch public house (located close to junction 5 of the M3) at 11:30am on Sunday 15th April.
WaterwitchOnce everyone has arrived, we will split into teams (maximum 5 per team due to boat capacity) and head to the Basingstoke canal. Hire charge is £14 per boat so this will be split between each team (bargain - less than £3 each!). Once life jackets are donned (supplied free of charge) we will take to the waters, have a 30 minute practise and then the race will commence!

Once the race is complete (around 1-1:30pm ish), you should have worked up an appetite, so we will head back to the Waterwitch for refreshments, photographs (reasonably sized car park for car pictures) and a roast dinner for those that fancy it!
Obviously this meet is weather permitting and as we can't rely on the UK climate; there is a contingency plan to meet at Basingstoke leisure park for bowling and drinks/food at the Spruce Goose Beefeater should the weather fail us. There is a huge car park there so plenty of opportunity for photos as well. One game of bowling will be £6.00 (£5.00 for under 16s), two games will be £10.75 (£9.00 under 16s). We can decide how many games to play on the day.
